Statement from the Judge of Warranwood Art Show

I am thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to view all the wonderful work that I know will be on display for the Show and I am both honored and privileged to have been asked to view the works in order to make recommendations for the awards.

Both the viewing and the making of art is an integral part of how we generate and enjoy our evolving cultures and the acknowledgement of the value of such activities affirms the support each and every one of us can provide as enthusiastic participants at all levels of our common culture.

Irrespective of whose artwork may catch the judge’s eye on this occasion such responses occur in the knowledge that the most significant action is the creative one and that prize-giving, while an important aspect of the encouragement we must all offer to creative practitioners, is highly subjective and does not constitute in any way the final word on any artist’s practice.
