Artists won prizes valued to almost $5,000 at Warranwood Art Show 2019 Opening night Gala, August 2019 at Oak Hall in Warranwood.
2019 Independent Judge, Domenico De Clario awarded a variety of prizes for outstanding artworks in seven categories with 'Best of' awards to -
Mitchell Tully (Best in Show)
Rosemary Williams (Best Landscape)
Barb Henderson (Best Abstract)
Marina Chamberlain (Best Still Life)
Marguerite Swan (Best Wildlife/Botanical)
Eleanor Healy-Wills (Best Digital Art/photography/printmaking), and
Chandos Ford (Best Ceramic)
- including 'Highly Commended' mentions for outstanding artworks recognised and awarded to Elizabeth Vercoe, Philomena Carroll, Melchior Martin, Melanie Bardolia, Sarah Baker, Amrei Bertelsman and Kate Hudson.
Just inside Oak Hall, visitors were greeted by an inclusive and inspired nature-based installation, the Gratitude Grotto created by Yarra Valley artist Claire James. Visitors were invited to light a candle to include into the participatory commissioned work.
Exhibitors and guests enjoyed wine from a local award-winning winemaker Rob Dolan Wines, delightful food from the School Community Association volunteers and music from jazz and blues musicians, Spoonbill Royale.
As part of the annual art show weekend, a People's Choice Award was voted for by the visiting public with artist, Lorraine Wigraft, winning the Award for her beautiful pastel artwork entitled Reflections, that sold during the show. Lorraine wins art prizes sponsored by Victorian Artists Supplies in Eltham, who have sponsored the perpetual award since 2009.
Donated beautiful oil, Banksias & Tomatoes II, by award-winning artist, Kirsty McIntyre was raffled during the show.

Senior music students at the school played cello, guitar and sang at Saturday's 'Art & Wine with Music' event.
Visitors enjoyed wines from local award-winning winemaker, Rob Dolan Wines, with delightful Moondarra cheeses.
Visitors to the Sunday event were treated to an artists talk by global award-winning artist, Agnes Parcesepe.
Agnes spoke extensively about her life of art, her awards and about her art, showing a variety of mediums. Agnes answered visitors questions including many artistic tips.

"The 2019 curating team acknowledge and pay respect to the Wurundjeri as the traditional custodians, past, present and emerging of the lands that the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School is situated upon.
We are keen to acknowledge the work that artists do in all areas of our lives to evolve culture around the world. We acknowledge the bravery of putting one’s self out, in these types of art awards and exhibitions as, from experience, we know it can feel like baring one’s soul.
Like art, the Warranwood Art Show is an ever-evolving process and since entries have opened the curating committee has brought some new focus to the 2019 exhibition. The vision we have for the 2019 exhibition is the want for the artwork to complement the beautiful architecture of the Oak Hall and for the art to be able to breathe in the most ideal conditions. It has been a daunting task to work through many artworks submitted for consideration and to make a selection for the exhibition considering this approach.
We also really excited to have a new installation artwork element in the Spring exhibition, with invited artist Clare James, a former MRSS student and art teacher, to make a significant installation for the Spring 2019 exhibition. We hope the installation will show and remind all people of the transformative potential of art in our day-to-day lives and beyond. Please enjoy the beauty, craftmanship and creative expression of the 2019 Warranwood Art Show."

The 2019 annual exhibition was curated by three professional artists with support by volunteers. Special thanks to the events team - Manager Ngaire Bennett, artist liaison Ziping Long, sponsorship/Gallery 247 liaison John Marryatt, web/media marketing Claudia Geng and School Community Association volunteers led by Susi Milton, with Year 7 and 8 parents volunteering from the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School.
Warranwood Art Show thanks and congratulates the artists, exhibitors, musicians, supporters and school community volunteers for creating a beautiful spring 2019 art event. All proceeds from the raffle plus door entry, cafe sales and artwork commissions goes to the School Community Association, towards equipment and upgrades for the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School.
